About Me

I am a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, where I focused mainly on Fine Art in the Fibers department. Since graduating, I've dappled in this and this, still looking for my art niche. My fine art work investigates the beauty ideals, gender roles, and aesthetic façades that have become an inherent part of being a woman. I focus primarily on the female form and the shapes and objects that adorn the body. Outside of this work, I enjoy making playful prints, conceptual jewelry, and painting. Check back often for updates!

It's a stormy Monday afternoon so I thought, what a perfect day to do a little bit dyeing. I'm going to turn this piece into a tea towel and do some embroidery as well. More in process photos to come!

Just finished working on a piece for my good friend, Laura. She saw my crabapple tree necklace and had to have a special necklace of her own! This one is 100% silk thread, aluminum, brass, and silver chain.

Monday, May 6, 2013

I just finished making this lovely necklace out of a found bit of my favorite childhood tree: an old crabapple that shaded our front driveway. The tree got sick and had to be cut down, but I'm so happy I can always keep a part of it with me. The cord is hand woven and braided silk thread with copper wire. I also hand cut the brass form and created a soft texture.
My painting inspiration for the day: found shells, faded patterns.
